Summary:
The Feng Laboratory at Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute invites applications for a dynamic and passionate postdoctoral fellow to join our team. We are dedicated to unraveling the structural and functional mechanisms of various disease-related membrane proteins and protein complexes, with a focus on endogenous ion channels.
In this role, the postdoctoral fellow will: 1. Employ cutting-edge cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) to elucidate protein structures. 2.Utilize various biochemical and biophysical methods to investigate protein functions.
The selected candidate will be an integral part of a collaborative and supportive research environment, with opportunities for professional development and interdisciplinary interaction. On campus, you will have access to state-of-the-art core facilities, including cryo-EM, biophysics, protein expression labs, and more. This is a fully funded position that offering a unique opportunity for sustained research and publication.

Duties and Responsibilities:
· Demonstrate knowledge and ability to learn to advance projects
· Generate hypotheses, design experiments, interpret data, trouble shoot and optimize experiments
· Be able to analyze and interpret data from different sources and draw relevant conclusions
· Be able to present results at internal and external meetings
· Accurately document experiments
· Contribute to the writing of reports and manuscripts with increasing responsibility over time
· Work collaboratively across lab functions and train other junior lab staff as needed
Education and/or Experience:
· PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Structural Biology, or a related field.
· Experience in cryo-EM data processing, protein biochemistry, electrophysiology or computational biology is advantageous.
· A strong track record of research achievements and excellent communication skills.

· Have strong organizational and problem-solving skills
· Excellent data presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
· Possess strong attention to detail, analytical, time management, and interpersonal skills

Compensation:
The expected hiring range for this position is $70,000/annually commensurate with skills and experience.
